Therapist for Individuals
My approach to therapy is mindful, eclectic, and strength based. What this means is that your therapy is a personalized experience. Whether you have a specific goal in mind or want to better understand patterns in your relationships, we will tailor our sessions to meet your needs. Learning how to have mindful awareness of your thoughts and reactions in the present moment is essential to changing unhelpful patterns and alleviating unnecessary stress.
I truly believe that everyone is born with everything they need to be content and successful in life. Through the process of therapy, you can uncover the strengths that you already posses, and eliminate barriers that have kept you from accessing them. If you are considering therapy, you are already courageous, resilient, and motivated. You might be going through a transition phase of a new job, or new residence. You could be experiencing a loss or having difficulty connecting with others. Maybe you are struggling with some very powerful emotions such as depression or anxiety that you are unsure of how to handle. Or you might be a parent who is searching for support with a child that is struggling emotionally, behaviorally, or academically. Whatever the reason is for you seeking treatment and counseling, your therapy with me is a collaborative process.
Background and Experience
I am a Seattle based clinician and am a member of the Seattle Counselors Association. I have a Washington State mental health counselor license (#60731790). I also hold a marriage family therapist license (#50368) of California State. I received my BS from California Lutheran University in Psychology and Criminal Justice, and my masters in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University.
I have been working exclusively in the mental health field for over 15 years. I have extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy approaches (CBT), evidence-based treatments for psychological distress such as depression, anger, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, mindfulness, relationship issues, and parenting. Some of these modalities include Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Seeking Safety for PTSD and Substance Abuse, Depression Treatment Quality Improvement, STEPS and Triple P parent training programs. I work with families, adults, young adults and adolescents, both in individual and group settings.
When not working in private practice, I volunteer running therapy groups at New Horizons, a transitional age youth homeless shelter in Seattle. I also conduct restorative justice trainings for education professionals and families with the National Center for Restorative Justice.
