Individual and Couples Therapist
Colleen’s approach to therapy with individuals and couples is tailored specifically to the needs and goals of each person. She believes the therapy process to be a collaborative effort, working together to identify clear goals and taking steps to make positive changes. In therapy, the therapist and client(s) view each individual as a part of a working system, which inevitably affects who they are as a person. It is important to understand how family experiences impact current relationships, influence the process of letting go of old patterns and contribute to experiencing personal growth. Colleen utilizes a blended approach including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Bowen Family Systems which explores how ingrained patterns of thinking and actions impact numerous life struggles, including relationship distress, anxiety and depression. Together, Colleen works with clients to find strategies to create a life beyond the struggles.
Colleen has a special interest in working with Executives, Leaders & those in High-Profile positions. As a business executive and CEO, she is uniquely qualified to help these persons, knowing the challenges as both the client and the therapist. For these clients, often the same factors which make them excel in these roles, may also be causing pain and distress.
Colleen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License #LF60123215) in the state of Washington with over 12 years of experience providing therapy services to individuals and couples. She is a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor within the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Her formal education includes a B.A. in Psychology from Cal Poly Pomona University and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from National University. Colleen also has specialized clinical training in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and work with first responders (police, fire, EMS).
