Background and Experience
She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (#LH60820212), and member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. Caress holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College and for the past 7 years, has focused on serving individuals, couples and children who have suffered a traumatic event and community traumas. She has extensive experience working in a variety of settings including private practice, community mental health centers, crisis centers, as well as in-patient facilities.
Caress is a Certified Clinical Military Counselor, trained and certificated in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), and EMDR (basic). When working with children, She often employs play therapy techniques as well as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Her work with couples blends the approaches of Acceptance Commitment Therapy(ACT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy(EFT).
